The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine has a protocol on mastitis, that
talks about continuing breastfeeding with an abscess.
These are internationally peer-reviewed, at www.bfmed.org.
I also suggest that the patient try to get another opinion from a
breastfeeding-friendly surgeon. Where are you located? I can find out if
there is an Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine doctor in your area who
could advise on a second opinion, or at least help you deal with this issue.
