Pamela,
I always enjoy reading what you post to Lactnet, this last one
especially. When my son was born 19 years ago, I had a postpartum
infection with high fever, multiple antibiotics, etc. Not knowing
anything about breastfeeding, I stopped nursing when directed to do so
by the powers that be. I was given a bicycle horn pump with no
instructions. While I was sitting in my bed, tearfully trying to figure
it out, the cleaning lady came in and said, "Honey, that thing will kill
you. Just use the hands that God gave you. They are much more gentle
and do a better job of moving out that milk," I don't think she had
ever heard of Chele Marmet, but her advice was right on!
