Dr. Rob -

If the baby is doing well otherwise, how about waiting until the baby wants
to pick up the solids and eat them? Make sure something is available
whenever mom and dad sit down to eat. If the baby wants it he will eat.

I know lots of babies that eat just fine once they are ready. My third
child would not eat a bite of solids until 10 months. It was his decision
not to eat (availability was plentiful with a 2yr and 4yr brother dropping
stuff all over the floor all of the time.) His brothers who were given
solids at about 6 months have had lots of problems with allergy, he has
none.

PS . I imagine babies have started foods at different ages for a long time
before the baby food people invented calendars!
