How frustrating! Just when you think you have a very supportive,
knowledgable doc, they come up with something really "off the
wall". I have one that's great in just about every way, but has a
blind spot when it comes to tongue tie. Another is wonderful except
he can't see thrush unless it looks like baby has a layer of cotton
on the tongue. A third supports in every way except "finishing the
first side first".
When I know a doc and I don't agree I use phrases like "This isn't
an exact science and there are differences of opinion. What I'm
suggesting is based on over 30 years of working with nursing moms
and from "picking the brains" of breastfeeding experts from around
the globe." It's also a good idea to communicte with the doc
(personally I think in writing may be better if you are really
emotionally charged-you can look over your words before they go to
the doc) saying something like: "Mrs. X told me you
said....................... Is this accurate? I'm puzzled because
the information I have at my disposal (AAP, Hale or whatever)
says................ I wonder if you'd share your source with me
and I would be glad to do the same. We both want what's best for
the nursing babies."

Keep up the good work and don't let one frustrating experience get
you down.

Winnie
