Hello Everyone,

Here is my short intro, my name is Denice, I am a certified labor &
postpartum doula along with being a certified breastfeeding counselor,
working towards IBCLC.

I am currently working with a mom who has cerebral palsy, she is completely
wheelchair bound and has very little fine motor skills, is unable to write,
and has a hard time multi-tasking. She wants to breastfeed and has a lot of
support from her family in regards to this. We have been working hard to
find a position where she is able to support the baby and the breast at the
sametime to make nursing successful but have not been able to find one.

My question to everyone is, has anyone had experience with a cp mom who has
problems with fine motorskills, spasticity, and is a parapalegic?

This mom is self sufficient and her desire and goal is to care for her baby
independently. We have tried all of the common positions, lying, cradle,
crosscradle, clutch, etc., we have used the sling, pillows, you name it.

I am hoping that someone can give me some creative ways to help this mom be
able to nurse her baby without any help once it is established.
M partner who is also working with this mom is a occupational therapist. We
are helping to adapt her living space along with teaching her how to care
for her baby.

I do have her permission to share her info to come up with new ideas.

Thank you for your help and support.

Denice
