Thanks Dr Newman, I agree entirely with your view on nipple shields, and so
would all the other IBCLCs in South Australia.(please don't shoot the
messanger!)  However not all our hospitals have LCs in their postnatal wards
or their domicillary midwife service. My problem is as I have stated, what
are the best ways to get rid of the things once they are well established?
In general practice I am finding that problems are often long standing and
compounded by the time women and their infants get to see me, and I think I
am often seen as a "last resort". This is challanging because in reality I
am probably a less experienced LC than many midwife LCs, although I do have
experience in women's health and paediatrics.
