Yes, I have used this technique. I just call it 'pinching' the nipple a little. It can work if the baby has no issues, i.e. not

a tongue-tied baby nor a premie. (Seems like it's always a combination, inverted nipple for mom and tongue-tie for baby!).

Basically the mother or the LC (I usually do it) sort of pinches the areola a bit helping to evert the nipple, and then quickly

move out of the way when baby latches. Alternatively, if baby can grasp the nipple, you can then let go, and baby can

draw in more breast tissue. Not ideal, but can work. Teach mother to do the same. It sometimes works, not always.
