Thanks for this thread, Liz, for it not only gave me a smile or two, but
reminded me of a commercial I saw recently for a car with a Dad wearing his
baby (couldn't see the baby at all) and bottle feeding (of course, one could
definitely see the bottle). My response was internal since no one was
around and I probably should have grumbled aloud to save my blood pressure
from rising. Out of habit, I used to do a media watch letter writing job for
lactation consortium, I began to write a letter in my head about how
bottles erroneously continue to be the symbol for babies in this country and how
detrimental this is, and how good it is to see a dad pictured with baby in
sling, but feeding doesn't equal love, and so forth. Wish I remembered
what car was being advertised (or was it a car? darn old age) and I'd send
off a letter, Rachel. I know it sometimes actually does have an impact to
write letters, but for my own mental health it helps to rant and rave
occasionally, too.
