Hi Mary,
Thanks for your repsonse to my message about donating ABM to the local crisis
center. I agree, we certainly shouldn't be displacing free samples, but in
this case, the center I was referring to was a child crisis center. The
children or infants have already be separated from their parents for one
reason or another & unfortunately, breastfeeding isn't an option. At this
particular crisis center ABM is only available for infants up to one year of
age. Our local nursing organization also donated diapers, clothing & toys as
well as other needed items such as bandaids, books & a microwave oven. This,
of course, isn't the ideal world situation, but under the circumstances, when
funding is so limited & needed supplies so expensive, I'd rather be offering
ABM samples to an infant in a crisis center than nothing at all. A couple of
years ago, this same nursing organization took all the older children to the
local baseball game for an evening of fun & entertainment.

Looking for ways to be helpful to our needy children,

Mary Lou McGee, RNC, IBCLC
