Hi all. this is my first time writing. I am a Family Practioner in
Canton, OH on Faculty at a FP residency. I have a son, Tyler 8/14/95. I
have found that the residents' knowledge of breast feeding problem
solving is woefully incomplete. They are often not very good advocates.
In addition, neither are the L&D or newborn nursery nurses. I'm often
fighting to get baby back to mom ASAP after delivery (I still do
deliveries) and getting the baby to stay with mom to nurse throughout
the night without any water supplements or recommendations of topping
off. So in an effort to improve this, I am putting together a seminar
with continueing med ed credit for nursing & residents in April. What an
undertaking! I have a wonderful lactation consultant at the hospital who
is going to help with a lot of it and has given me lots of info. As
usual I've found I still have lots to learn myself. What I would really
like is some references on the use of Reglan to increase prolactin and
relactation. I searched the archives from the beginning and see it
mentioned as in some articles I have found but I can't find a good
reference or dosing. If any one has this handy, I would much appreciate
it. Thank you!
