Breast Is Best But Soy Milk Has Benefits Too, Say Docs

Infants fed with soy formula consume an average of 20 to 45 milligrams of
isoflavones per day, an amount similar to the typical Asian diet, where
certain cancers are significantly less prevalent. In contrast, Americans
consume an average of less than one milligram of isoflavones a day, he
noted.
Although isoflavones are found in breast milk, its quantity is limited
compared to soy formula, said Setchell, who said he has no financial
connection to Nestle.

The above quoted portion of your article seems to miss one very important
point. Wouldn't the diet of the breastfeeding mothers matter? If isoflavones
are found in breast milk, then wouldn't eating soy products increase the
amount of isoflavones in a mom's milk? If cancer is lower in the Asian diet,
is that because Asian women eat more soy products while nursing or is that
because Asian women all use soy based formulas? I would suggest that it is
probably because their diets after weaning include more soy than ours, plus
while nursing, the women eat more soy products. I would be happy to offer
my milk as a sample for you to test, as I eat an excellent diet, with plenty
of soy products.
