This is exactly the situation at our local hospital. It has reached the stage that we are now seeing babies
who have gone home officially breastfeeding, but who have never actually nursed. I wonder how widespread this
phenomena is - are other LCs and LLLLs noticing this trend too, and if so, what kind of approach to the
hospital staff has proved to be most effective?

Another concern is the number of mothers who cannot put their babies to breast by themselves; in the hospital
there was one nurse holding the baby, one pushing its face into the breast, and yet another who was holding
the mother's breast from behind. The staff insists that they have had more breastfeeding training than any
thing else and are simply not interested in more. In fact, besides the lactation consultant, not one nurse
attended the regional bf workshop organised by the hospital for perinatal nurses.

Any ideas?
