Subject: Re: baby no bowel movements
Could the baby have Hirshprung's? This a lack of nerve cells (ganglia) in the terminal end of the large bowel.

Hi Wendy
There
is significant controversy around whether such a disorder actually
exists.  If it does it is *extremely* rare.  Most of us have only ever
heard the term because the media has sensationalised a handful of very
sad abuse/neglect cases (globally).  Only after ruling out every other
more likely scenario ... PND, cluelessness, strict routines, history of
maternal childhood abuse, metabolic disorder, inadequate feeding, etc
... would it even be worth considering chasing this zebra.
cheers
