A woman suffering severe morning sickness is taking Maxalon TDS during her
current pregnancy. She did also with her last pregnancy as she experienced
continuing nausea, low BP and fainting episodes. She stopped taking Maxalon
at birth and despite no other obvious risk factors her milk never came in. Can
only assume affected prolactin levels adversely - basal levels higher than usual
during pregnancy or would pregnancy hormones minimise that? and then
rebound effect when stopped not allowing natural rise in 1st few days? She
restarted maxalon at about 2 weeks postpartum with no real effect. She is
wanting to know whether to keep taking Maxalon after the birth this time?
Maybe tapering down by 10mg per week as recommended in Hale 08. There is
no way she is willing to taper dose prior to delivery but is really keen to
breastfeed successfully this time and would be grateful for any advice. Please
email me privately as well as list. Many thanks.
