Laryngeal Malasia--
Does anyone have information on this anomaly and how best to accomplish
nursing or feeding. It seems to be a condition where the passages collapse
on themselves and make it difficult for the baby to swallow.

The mother I have contact with has stopped trying to nurse her baby, who is
1 month old, because of the baby turning blue and clearly having an
obstructed airway. She would gasp and struggle and scream in frustration.
Mom has pumped her milk but still is struggling with feeding time as it
seems to be a breathe or eat choice for her daughter. The baby enjoys
sucking on a pacifier. I've encouraged her to try a slow flow nipple. Would
a Haberman feeder be helpful?

Her pediatrician and the baby's dad (an MD) arrived at this diagnosis by
process of elimination I am told.

If anyone could share information on this anomaly and recommendations I would
greatly appreciate the education.

Thank You,
