I'm working with a first time mom, baby now one week. For unknown reason, baby
stopped nursing well on day 2, before moms milk came in, and now screams and
fights at the breast. We were able to get the baby to nurse for about 5 minutes
tonight, then he fell into a deep sleep. Mom is pumping plenty of milk, has
been feeding with a syringe and finger.
Any comments about nipple shields sometimes being good? Mom has almost flat
nipples,(using shells) even with stimulation, sucking they do not change.
Nipples not sore. Also what about giving baby nothing to suck on? Does this
help and make baby go to breast?
All my LC's are at ILCA here in AZ. Thanks for your ideas.
