I think this is the best video currently available showing the
asymetric latch.  We use this one in our prenatal classes as well as
in staff education.  I do make a couple points before showing it in
class.  It seems that the breasts shown are are on the large side.
I point out that this makes it easy to see what's happening and
shouldn't be taken to mean that only large breasts "work well".
Also, the emphasis on being fully upright for either the "football"
or cross-cradle holds makes it sound like it has to be 90 degrees
upright or lying down.  I don't know of many moms (in hospital at
least) who will be hopping up and sitting in a chair for the first
feed.  I tell those in class that they want to be as upright as is
comfortable for them at that point.  If they can't sit upright, we
can help them make some adjustments if necessary to achieve the best
latch possible.
