Overuse of pitocin definitely seems to be the first in the long chain of
interventions that lead to the "train wrecks" we have all seen. What's the
big hurry? In my research of VBAC, I learned that the possibility of uterine
rupture is higher with pitocin than with VBAC. VBACs are still actively
discouraged by some docs because of the possibility of uterine rupture (i.e.
lawsuits) while use of pitocin is often considered the norm unless a Mom
refuses it.
