We don't have much information about this medication.

Presumably the mother was on it during pregnancy, from what you said.  If
not, the physician is being very inflexible about this medication, or it is
possible, though unlikely, that there is no option.  But the baby will get
less in the breastmilk than he will have gotten in utero.  That doesn't mean
it's completely safe during breastfeeding if it was considered safe during
pregnancy, because the mother metabolized the drug for the fetus, but still,
this should be taken into consideration.

Given the risks of not breastfeeding, I would urge this mother to breastfeed
(or provide her milk), and get the milk and baby's blood levels tested (for
science).
