Talking/writing about pain can get very tricky.

I opt for the statement that if it hurts (i.e., PAIN) something is wrong
that needs to be fixed.
Yes, early tenderness (not the same as pain and very transient) can and
does occur (though not with everyone).

However, I have had my ears (literally and figuratively) laid back by
individuals who INSISTED that pain was experienced (who am I to say they
did not experience it?) and that this was NORMAL with breastfeeding.  These
women seem to feel compelled to discount the "it should not hurt" approach
in order to validate their own experiences.

Anyone else observed the same reactions?
