Many of us here on LN see many hundreds of expectant
and new parents per year. Many expectant and new
parents ask us for advice and suggestions about whom
to go to for their baby's medical care. It seems
appropriate that we would recommend HCPs that are
knowledgeable about, or are at least interested in and
very supportive of BF,

My children have only seen pediatricians in the
hospital- er, my son has never seen one since he was
born at home. I'm considered somewhat of a freak when
people ask who my pedy is and I say, "we use a family
practitioner and his name is "X"." I don't understand
why more families don't since they can see the entire
family and have more opportunity to see the whole
picture. Of course, we see DO's and I wanted to
be/planned to be a DO family practitioner until dd was
born, so I'm either partial to them or know more about
them.

I also kind of prefer referencing the ACOFP statement
since so many people see pedys and understand that
pediatricians *aren't* following the statement on
human milk- if the members of the college don't follow
it, why should the general public? does that make
sense?
