And how! I am 5'4" and my babies have been 2 X 7#2oz. (the girl twins),
1 X 7#12oz. (a boy twin) 2 X 8#3 (a boy twin and a boy singleton) 1 X
9#2oz (girl singleton) and 1 X 9#8oz. (a girl singleton). I include
details to prove that, although I am about to give a talk about
multiples being smaller, it isn't always the case -- although I admit a
twin boy over 8 lbs. who turns upside down between 38 and 39 weeks was a
bit of a surprise...
Incidentally, my two biggest girls were fast, vaginal births; the first
set of twins was a quick, vaginal, so size was not the reason for my one
c/sec. (same somersault case). What I can say is that a) a c/sec is
often the beginning of a series of misfortunes b) last year, Marsha
Glass wrote some great posts on precipitous labour... some of her
comments relate well to management of the possible discomforts of
birthing big babies.
