This is probably the first time I've ever disagreed with Karleen...
hopefully the last!

But I disagree. Whilst it's not perfect by any means... there is a
wider issue. Formula wins the media war. Media wars are important,
they fashion views and culture and opinion.

This puts breastmilk in the media eye, as being vitally important.
Especially for preemies.

I do understand the reservations. I share them. However, in a global
context, on setting right the formula agenda... this is wonderful.

Yes, it would be better if every mother who donated also donated money.
And yes, it does state that milk not sent to Haiti will be used
internally, and that's good. No, it's bad, that the 'Western'
breastmilk, sent through science and technology, is taking notice away
from supporting local efforts. Yes, that's a downer.

But it breaks the supremacy of formula on the camera and over the
microphone. And for all the down sides, I see that as A Good Thing.

Media is a double edged sword. On balance, I like how this sword is
cutting out formula markateers and sending the message that human milk
is vital for fragile human babies. :-)
