Susan said,

<<I believe it is in one of the newsletters you used to print, Jan,
that on average baby boys learn to nurse well in about 54 hrs and baby
girls learn in about 28 hrs. This would explain the increased jaundice
incidence. Then the boys catch up in high school! I've got my fingers
crossed for my dear 8th grade son, school's always been hard for him,
but he loves to learn.>>

Yup -- that was a study done by Crowell et al in 1994. I probably included
it in one of the early editions of the ILCA Globe. I suspect too that the
slowness in learning breastfeeding early on has to do with increased bilis -- but
it would then be related to "lack of feeding" jaundice and not to the fact
that they are boys per say.
<< Any more comments on fenugreek......please??>>

I had not heard anything about starting fenugreek slowly. Reglan yes,
Fenugreek no -- my moms generally take 12 caps/day starting day one -- 4 caps 3
times a day or 3 caps 4 times a day.
