Joanna You may be interested in this case study:
Pregnancy and Lactation following Anorexia and Bulimia. Bowles and
Williamson. JOGNN, 19:3 May/June 1990 p 243-8.
It does not discuss difficulties with the initiation of breastfeeding
although the mother did breastfeed beyond 5 mos.
I have seen a very few moms who were anorexic or bulemic. The issues were
not with the production of breast milk but rather emotional and body image.
In one case in particular it was complicated by the age of the mom -- middle
teens. I have not seen anything which would lead me to expect delayed milk
production nor initial supply problems BUT I have not seen very many moms so
am no expert.
