I first thought of referred pain, too, however I find it interesting that
this mom only feels this when breastfeeding *on that side.*
So I am thinking letdown sensations maybe under the axillary region? I think
the original post said it was pain between the spine and her side?
Or it could be a musculoskeletal pain, as to how mother is sitting or
positioned. I would want to see her nurse and also figure out when she feels
it, more at the beginning of the feed (this would make me think letdown) or
more as the feeding progressed or ended (this would lean me more towards
muscle pain). And if the warmth helps, keep using it. And maybe also
ibuprofen. Hope this helps.
