I have a student in my courses who has a keen interest in the effect of a
low-allergen diet during pregnancy on the chances of the 'at-risk' infant
developing atopy. I've exhausted my references on diet control in
pregnancy, the best being a study done by Chandra in 1985. Neither of us
felt he really proved that dietary restrictions in pregnancy made a
difference, despite that being his conclusion.
To add to that Riordan mentions that the infants immune response is being
formed in the first trimester, therefore an avoidance diet would need to
start just about at conception if it works at all.

Does anyone know of any research more convincing than this?

Denise
