I went and reread Mohrbacher - she mentions 3-4 days of endocrine control - based on increase in oxytocin with removal of placenta, then autocrine takes over.  Autocrine depends on milk removal.  Mohrbacher calls it "local" control of production, milk supply depends on milk removal.  Demand and supply :-)  Pat in SNJ
