Denise,
This woman sounds like everything is just piling up and swamping her.
You don't mention her partner at all - is he supportive, emotionally and
practically? Does she have good extended family support?
It sounds also like she is getting lots of pharmacological treatment for
her 'depression' (if that is what it is). She certainly has all of the risk
factors for it. But is she also getting clinical psychologist care?
In an ideal world, her partner would take a few weeks emergency leave, stay
at home full time, and do everything for her bar breastfeed.
But it is not an ideal world. I'll be interested to hear the outcome.
Additionally, as a 'success' of fertility treatment myself (tho not IVF) I
think sometimes the reality of parenthood can be hard to deal with when you
have tried for it for so long. And sometimes you feel like you can't
complain, because "well this is what you wanted isn't it?"
