This sounds like overactive let down is flooding the baby. Once MER has
subsided baby is happy at the breast. Weight gain looks good. Can mom let
down into a cloth diaper or towel then start the feed? Frozen corn or peas
in a bag applied to breast after feeds, nursing from one breast for several
hours/nursings before switching to the other breast. Basically everything
opposite of trying to increase a milk supply.
