My mother is doing a nutritional course at Simon Fraser University, and
for the 2nd half of the course, she has to research about a topic that
is covered in her text, but go into greater detail about it.

One of the topics is "is MM better than artificial formula?". ;-) I am
hoping she'll pick this one (and she might, as she knows it'd be of
interest to both of us). She nursed me 7.5 months back almost 26 years
ago, so she's a good bf activist and great with me and my daugter (took
care of us from 10-23 days PP, bathing & entertaining my daughter, then
bringing her to me for feeds while making us adult food and cleaning
up!). It'd be nice for her to know even more about bf, because I know
that right now she's only just barely beginning to see the benefits of
bf past 2 yrs or so. I printed off a whole bunch of things off the web
for her to look at (she does not "do" internet...period... :-(), which
she found interesting.

Anyhow, to get to the point, she was mentioning last night that she
learned in her course that human milk is the only other source available
for the SPECIFIC type of omega-3 fatty acids that are available in
fish. I knew that both fish and things like flax seeds have omega-3's
but didn't know there were 2 different types of omega 3's and that human
milk would be the only other source than fish. Does anyone have any
more information on this? I am wondering if this is actually true, or
if there really is only one type of omega-3?!

Thanks in advance!

Fio.
