Hi! It's the ABM that causes the increased risks!
Blessings to you!

Subject: What causes Ear Infections?

As I am basically bottlefeeding EBM as my son's oral motor functioning develops, a question has arisen regarding how he "gets" his milk and risk of ear infections.

Research shows that bottlefeeding increases the incidence of ear infections. But, what increased the risk of those ear infections- the ABM or the positioning while being bottlefed, or the pooling of the liquid in the baby's mouth, which occurs anyway, even while being fed EBM?

We are used paced bottlefeeding techniques and feeding upright, often with his cheek pressed into my bare breast(snuggly!). I give him the freshest milk possible at all times.

  Any thoughts on this?

also- thank you to the many of you who have given me such wonderful advice and encouragement during this trying time. you know who you are!!!
