I am acquainted with one person who lived here in Olympia WA who was
extremely successful at adoptive breastfeeding. In the course of her
marriage, this mom estimated at least 10 previous spontaneous early
abortions.

She and her husband adopted a Hispanic baby boy they named Isaac.
She breastfed Isaac with a Lact-Aid in her bra. In conversation, we
discovered had the same OBGYN in town and boy was he a sourpuss.

She related to me that while sitting upright on his examination table
this doc told her "You know he's getting no nutrition from you at all."
This 6' statuesque blond got so angry with his pronouncement that she
had an immediate let-down (MER) right then and there and drops of her
milk dripped right in front of him onto her draped lap.

He looked up at her in shock and said "Oh my gosh, you do have milk."
But he never apologized as that was not his style. I was at her place
of business when she told me and I just cheered. Isaac would sleep on
top of the mounds of sheepskins in between feedings and playing. His
parents made sheepskin coats and teddy bears to sell.
