Rushing, rushing so will be brief. Baby is 6 weeks old.
Birthweight 8lb6oz, spent a week in intensive care at birth for
resp. distress from meconium. Weight dropped to 7.8. Pronounced
healthy , came home, nursed beautifully, gained to 9.8. Has been
happy healthy and thriving until last week. Gradually began nursing
less and crying more. Today, when I get the call babe is not
nursing at all, screaming at any attempt to take her down from moms
shoulder. Won't take a supplement (breastmilk or Abm) Fights hard
with any attempt to feed her in any way. Has had a full medical
workup, and been declared healthy. Mom can't think of anything that
has changed, I've been down the list of everything I can think of.
Babe will occasionally take the breast when she's sleepy, or if Mom
can get her flat on her back and hang over her. Moms pumping, trying
to give that milk.....todays supplementing method of choice is using
a syringe with babe still on moms shoulder. That's not working well
either.....but running out of ideas. She's doing lots of skin to
skin and is taking baths with the baby.
Ideas? I'm really stumped here.
