Re: the mom with bilateral mastitis who has taken dicloxicillan and Keflex.
Perhaps she has an unusual "bug" causing the mastitis.  I recently worked
with a mom whose symptoms didn't resolve until after a course of
clindamycin, a drug frequently used for anaerobic infections.  This mom had
such terrible pitting edema on her breasts (peu d'orange) that the doc did
an ultrasound and checked her to make sure she didn't have inflammatory
breast cancer.
She needs to keep working with her MD until an antibiotic is discovered that
will clear the infection.  In the meantime, she needs bed rest, and good
lactation management to keep her breasts very well drained.
