I am so glad LeeAnn spoke up about the c'birth credential and situation in
America. We are experiencing the same phenomenon here. We used to teach 4
six week c'birth classes per week and now we are lucky to fill two. The
weekend "express" class has become the popular one and all of us who teach
know that you learn next to nothing in one of those sessions because of
the volume of information we have to give out. Personally, I won't teach
that kind of class. While our epidural rate is lower than some around us
(because we have midwives) we still have lots more than we used to, and as
LeeAnn said, it is almost as if the couples are doing classes because they
think it is part of the process.

I actually think I am seeing decreased numbers in breastfeeding class as
well, although they still come for that.

Thanks for bring this up, LeeAnn. I am going to pass that on to our
coordinator. When our coordinator spoke to others in her job at other
facilities she found that everyone was experiencing a decrease in
attendance.
