In 22 years of fitting and selling nursing bras, and that is not in the
"serve yourself" manner, as we measure and fit the right bras to the
client, we have not had one complaint regarding the hundreds of pairs
of breastshells that we've sold. Not one compaint that they have
shifted
off target to cause pain or harm.

In fact, many women have said that the breastfeeding would not have
happened without them as their large breast has become even flatter
at the nipple (like an overblown balloon) when their milk came in.
Women who failed to be able to breastfeed with previous children had
success after wearing the breast shells for 6 to 8 weeks before
delivery.
Some continued to wear them if their baby had latching problems
afterwards.
Most could discard them after one to three weeks postpartum. We never
them them to use them to catch or collect milk. We indicate that is a
temporary situation from use of the shells and will cease when they
can discard them.

No yeast infections have ever been reported and we still continued to
sell them their large cup size bras if they stopped breastfeeding also.
Yeast has never been an issue in the feedback, but we are in a climate
that doesn't vary that much in temperature from summer to winter. Most
summers here have been mild, but who knows what the drought will bring.

I do have a suggestion on a brand that I've found as we dislike both the
small ones and the soft ones now on the market. They do not do the job
for large breasted women and look like pubescent nipples under clothes
and
cannot be well hidden as the large doughnut shaped ones can.

We bought out the last cases from Avent when they discontinued their
large breast shells. In looking for a replacement, we've found a brand
called Starburst. They have 5 slits in them about 3/4" long in one
half. They should be positioned upward and they are frosty white
instead
of clear plastic.

They can be ordered from:
