PTP. Working with a mom whose toddler stopped nursing cold-turkey on Saturday. The why is still unknown and the child has shown no interest in returning to the breast. Mom has been pumping in the meantime. The curious thing is that the child will not drink the pumped milk - no matter the vehicle. As soon as the child knows it is breast milk, she refuses it.

While this sounds quite a bit like a nursing strike, it also sounds like cold-turkey weaning. Baby is not upset but the lack of breastfeeding or breast milk. We have gone through all the common causes of a nursing strike, and ruled them out. So now I am looking for the outlandish, crazy reasons a toddler would stop nursing and refuse breastmilk in any form.

The best theory I have come up with is that mom's hormones have started to change to resume her menstrual cycles and that has changed the flavor of the milk and baby doesn't like it.

Anyone else have other ideas that are outside the box?

Thank you for your help!!
