<To rewrite Jenna's statement, perhaps we should
say, "If a mother forgoes breastfeeding, she will experience greater
lochia, lose amenorrhea, lose the weight loss effect of breastfeeding,
increase
her risk of cancer, and lose the effects of hormones that reduce stress and
promote maternal bonding.">

<Or: "If a mother does not breastfeed, she will lose a unique opportunity to
bond with her baby in an intimate physical relationship.>

Or what about: "If a mother *is deprived of breastfeeding*..."

After all, virtually every mother would want to if she had a normal birth, full access to her baby, good role models, good information, and good support. As James Akre would point out, those are all cultural, not internal, forces. It isn't *her* fault she chooses not to breastfeed!
