Another anectodal comment:

I went 22 months (son born August 2000, first period end of May 2002) and
we've been trying to conceive w/o luck too. I did conceive in August (cycle
#3) and had a miscarriage (I have a history of this). My son was night
weaned for six weeks and then my period showed up and then we went away, he
was sick etc. and I resumed night nursing him. I have night weaned again as
of Monday (8 - 9 hours w/o nursing) and I happened to take start taking 1000
mg/day Flax seed oil capsules to improve my skin. How pleased I was when
someone else also mentioned to me that it helps with cervical mucous. I
have painful ovulation (didn't have that before) but very little egg-white
quality mucous (had tons before). I think nursing at night definitely had a
huge impact on my periods/fertility and I'm hoping that having
re-night-weaned and using some natural fertiltiy boosters (had Vitex
suggested to me and eating yams - or maybe I'll look into yam cream as I'm
not a big potato eater) will do the trick. I thought I'd have my children 2
years apart and I didn't imagine that my son would be two (turned two last
month) and I'd still be trying to get pregnant. I guess three years apart
is ok - it'll have to be, won't it! LOL.

Anway, I find this topic very interesting.
