This is one of the reasons why women complain of conflicting advice, because the advice changes for different situations at different times when breastfeeding.  I have no evidence to go with this but the "advice" that I gave when I work in hospital with post partum patients was to always offer both breasts at the begining.  Feed on one side until baby is done and then offer the other side.  If baby isn't that interested, don't worry.  The reason why I gave this advice is that some women will only offer one side per feeding and they run into supply issues later or their baby loses too much wight or doesn't gain as expected.  I also tell them that later when their supply is established, they may only need to feed on one side per feeding.
