>>it makes me wonder a lot about the safety of this product. Not because
this is my field, such an ad would make me suspicious no matter what the
product.<<

Here's more info about the patent, Naomi:

"The strength and validity of FLUIDjoint's clinical trials have supported
the issue of more than 200 worldwide patents on the uses of the special
micronutrient technology. The active ingedient in FLUIDjoint was awarded the
United States Patent Number 5,650,175, for the anti-inflammatory factor
method of isolation and use.

The remarkable scientific discovery of FLUIDjoint and its effects on joints,
pain and stiffness was yielded from research costing over fifty million
dollars over the past 30 years."

The ad also states,

"In contrast [to the potentially allergy inducing Glucosamine which is "made
from the shells of crabs and crayfish" and Chondroitin which is "derived
from the cartilage of cows, pigs and sharks" and the "undesirable side
effects" of prescription drugs], FLUIDjoint is a new nonprescription remedy
that is prepared according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in
facilities compliant with FDA guidelines."

>>I can't find anything about the product on the web, so I have sent an
email asking for more info. I'll let you all know what I learn from them.<<

"A FREE copy of the FLUIDjoint Official Report is available by calling
1-800-781-3422. Ask for Dept. VR01."

And in the fine print:

"For References and Disclosure see Current Therapeutic Research, Vol. 63,
No. 7, July 2002. Dr. Lee Randolph Beck a biologist and former professor of
the University of Alabama Medical School is currently Chief Scientific
Officer, and Dr. Robert C. Stoher, is the Chief Research Officer for the
producer of the milk biologics ingredients. John L. Zenk, M.D. the former
Chief of Medicine at St. Francis Hospital, Minnesota, is currently retained
as the Chief Medical/Scientific Officer of the licensee of the milk
biologics ingredients."

One thing I noticed is how the ad went from saying "breast milk" or "[human]
mother's milk" to just plain "milk" once it got to the part about the active
ingredient in FLUIDjoint coming from COWS. I'm sure they're trying to gloss
over the fact there are major differences between human breastmilk and
bovine milk. It's not really the IgG found in breastmilk, but it's just as
good.
