Hi, Kirsten: The product you are referring to, I believe, is Expecta.
It's a DHA supplement that the mother is supposed to begin taking during
pregnancy and in our area, 30 softgels (1 month supply) costs $30 or
$1/pill. The claim is that it will boost her milk levels of DHA when she
begins nursing. It hasn't received a lot of "press" here and I don't
believe the docs are really buying into it. A couple of our OBs asked me
about it when it first hit our stores the 1st of the year, but I believe
they feel it's just another unneccessary thing, which is fine by me. Some
of my support group moms asked if they should be taking it, and bascially
blew it off when I explained its purpose. Some of the list RDs might like
to comment, but I'm under the impression that a mother (or anyone else for
that matter) can get sufficient daily DHA intake from their diet.

You also might want to check the archives as some posts were made a few
months ago about Expecta.
Hope this helps.
