I would like to ask for some advice on an interesting case. I have
permission to post.

First baby, term, maternal history epilepsy, normal birth. Baby now 2
weeks old. Thriving. good milk supply.

Mother experiences moderate to severe pain in breast, nipples, arms and
legs during feeding. This starts as pins and needles and progresses to
loss of feeling then nerve type pain. Worse at night and worse during
the letdown.

I am thinking reynards. I conferred with a doctor who thought this may
be a hypersensitive response to the hormones of lactation.
There were some latching issues to correct and thrush to treat, but the
over riding symptom is this nerve pain in her limbs. She has to rock
through a feeding to deal with the pain (like labour).

The other thing I noted was an enlarged thyroid gland. Both her mother
and I looked and noticed at the same time. It was quite obvious. She
will go to the doctor to get this checked out.

Any thoughts anyone. Anyone seen something similiar.

Would be grateful for any advice,

Karen Palmer
