This came out garbled so I am reposting

I do not think the Philadelphia Inquirer article was bad. There is no such thing as bad publicity!! If the Campaign had launched with these ads there would inevitably have been criticism, noone expects the country to change its mind overnight. The point is that now, everyone is suddenly talking about the "risks of formula feeding" - which is EXACTLY what the Campaign aimed to do (have we even heard those phrases used before in public? we only changed our own terminology in the last few years from 'benefits of bf' to 'risks of formula') and the $$$ of the formula industry are being shown up in a bad light. SOmeone on Lactnet made the great comment - give them enough rope and they will hang themselves. That may be happening. Once a 'respected' popular media outlet like the NYT takes on this phraseology, all you need to do is refer other media sources to their article. They like new angles, they like tales of $$$$ and lobbying, they like Banned Commercials, and they will probably follow the NYT lead. Look at how the anti-tobacco groups have used this. I was at the American Public Health Assoc meeting last month in San Francisco and I picked up this great quote from the anti-obesity group who were talking about junk foods and kids. Ghandi said it first:
First they ignore you
Then they laugh at you
Then they fight you
Then you win
:)
we are at the fighting part
well done for getting this into the Inquirer
