Ellen asked where she could find tubing for a
home-made supplementation device...I would venture to
say contacting a local children's hospital, or the
NICU unit at a hospital, would be a good way to start.
 Perhaps you can get them straight from the
manufacturer?

I have seen the #5 French tube used, but the 36-inch
length seems excessive, as the infant would have to
put a great deal of "traction" on the tube to draw the
milk through.  I mean, that is THREE FEET of tubing,
sort of like an adult trying to drink through an 8
foot straw....and the tubing should not be trimmed due
to the risk of abrasions to the infant's mouth.  The
15-inch length seems long enough to use comfortably,
whether attatched to a syringe or inserted into a
standard bottle/nipple unit.

No flames, please, folks...I have seen photos of this
technique in at least one well-respected textbook, and
have seen it used by experienced IBCLC's in real life.
