I have a mom who is hypothyroid - just diagnosed before her third pregnancy:
she is taking eltroxin (T4) and was recently started on cytomel(T3) because
of continued symptoms - her blood work is good - but since she started on
the cyotmel her four month old has been waking up anywhere between 3:30 a.m.
and 5:30 a.m. and staying awake. This has been happening 4-5 times a week
the last month and baby is fine otherwise. She co-sleeps and has no problems
nursing - but is having trouble coping when this baby is up for long periods
of time in the wee hours.

Her question - is the cytomel causing this change - or is this just
developmental? She has been feeling so much better on the cytomel she hates
to stop it - Hale's info. in 1999 says exceedingly small amounts of T3 are
secreted into human milk - and I can't discern whether he means normally or
while taking cytomel? I haven't been able to access Hale's web site to ask
him directly. Any thoughts?
