I am working to find out where the idea that "feedings [longer than 30
min.] may lead to a net caloric loss due to excessive energy output" (Glass
and Wolf 1999). The reference given in this paper is a book (Robert J.
Shprintzen, Janusz Bardach, Cleft palate speech management: a
multidisciplinary approach -
http://books.google.it/books/about/Cleft_palate_speech_management.html?id=telpAAAAMAAJ&redir_esc=y)
to which I have no access.
Does anyone have it and can check what they say about the issue?
the chapter is "Sidoti EJ, Shprintzen RJ. *Pediatric care and feeding of
the newborn with a cleft*"

If anyone has other references about this issue (some original study or
similar) to help me fin out how they determined that feeding longer than 30
min. leads to caloric loss, I would be happy to know them.

Thanks for your help!
