        Update on the little one I posted about. He's gaining at 1 oz per day
steadily, even with a 10cc per feed reduction in the SNS... they tried to
reduce it again, which would bring it down to only pumped milk at aruond
40cc... and mom ended up giving him 85 cc overnight bc he wouldn't stop
crying... so I recommened smaller tubing as the next step rather than a
further reduction in volume...
        But family now reports that the "chomping" he was doing only when really
frustrated, he's doing all the time now... I've felt this. He literally
"chews" rather than sucks -- but he'd settle down and then get a good latch
and suck well, now he apparently keeps chomping... LC was surprised he
gained weight with the chomping and reduced supplement...
        Mom is using compression to encourage him at breast, but she can't bear
the chomping and is basically exhausted. Family has been shown the "tongue
walking" type finger in the mouth exercises, but baby keeps gagging and
crying and they don't think it's helping...
        Other words of wisdom?
