Does anyone know if there is any research that has been done on lowered
supply after mastitis? I was trying to think of something, and I'm not sure
there is anything -- but would love to see it. On a personal note, I had a
mastitis which wasn't all that bad, with my second child. Milk supply did
diminish in that breast and never came back up to the level it had been
prior to the infection. However, the very strange thing was that I produced
NO milk in that breast at all with my third child 6 years later. Well, I
take that back. I did get 3 ml once when I was pumping diligently trying to
increase my supply. Never figured out why or what happened or if it was
the mastitis or an unhappy coincidence. No breast problems ever ensued, and
he is now 26....

Julie -- I don't have any advice. Just hope this doesn't happen to your
mom. Though I've never heard of it happening to anyone else.
